About Sido Kanhu Murmu University
The erstwhile Sido Kanhu University (SKU), now renamed as Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU), was established on 10 January 1992 by an Act of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
After the formation of the new state of Jharkhand in the year 2000, the university came under the Jharkhand government.
On May 31, 2007, the university was granted recognition by the University Grants Commission under Section 12(b) of the UGC Act, 1956.
The jurisdiction of the university extends to six districts of Santhal Parganas, where its 13 constituent and 9 permanently affiliated colleges are located.
