Normalization Process for GATE Exam Result 2025

The Normalization Process is used to equalize the marks for candidates who appeared in different shifts, considering variations in the difficulty levels across shifts.

GATE Normalization Formula:

Mij=(Mij−Mqg)Miq×MtgM_{ij} = \frac{(M_{ij} – M_qg)}{M_iq} \times M_tg

Where:

  • MijM_{ij} = Actual marks obtained by the j-th candidate in the i-th session
  • MqgM_qg = Mean and standard deviation marks of the candidates considering all sessions
  • MtgM_tg = Average marks of the top 0.1% of candidates across all sessions
  • MiqM_iq = Mean and standard deviation marks of the i-th session

GATE Score Calculation Formula:

The GATE score is calculated using the formula:

G=M−MqMt−Mq×(900−350)+350G = \frac{M – M_q}{M_t – M_q} \times (900 – 350) + 350

Where:

  • MM = Marks obtained by the candidate
  • MqM_q = Qualifying marks for the general category in the paper
  • MtM_t = Mean marks of the top 0.1% or top 10 candidates (whichever is larger)
  • 350 = Score for the qualifying marks
  • 900 = Score for the top candidate

Conclusion… The GATE Result 2025 will be available on 19th March 2025, and the Scorecard will be released on 26th March 2025.
