SSC CGL Tier-I Exam City and Admit Card
The examination city details are available before the Admission Certificate so that candidates can know where their Tier-I examination will be conducted. The exam city information is available from 21 September 2026, while the Admission Certificate is provided approximately 2 to 3 days before the candidate’s scheduled examination date.
Candidates appearing in Assam can be allotted examination centres at Dibrugarh, Guwahati (Dispur), Jorhat, Silchar or Tezpur.

SSC CGL Tier-I Exam Pattern 2026
The Tier-I question paper consists of four sections. Each section contains 25 questions carrying 50 marks, making the paper a total of 100 questions and 200 marks.

The examination is based on objective-type multiple-choice questions. Questions are provided in English and Hindi, except those in the English Comprehension section.
The standard examination duration is 1 hour, with 15 minutes allotted to each subject. Candidates eligible for a scribe are allowed 20 minutes per subject, making their total duration 1 hour 20 minutes.
A deduction of 0.50 marks is applicable for every incorrect answer.
What Happens After SSC CGL Tier-I?
Tier-I is used for shortlisting candidates for the next stage of the recruitment process. Candidates who meet the required criteria based on their Tier-I performance will be shortlisted for Tier-II.
A separate Admission Certificate will be issued for candidates appearing in the Tier-II examination.
SSC CGL Own Scribe Registration 2026
Candidates who opted to use their own scribe are required to complete the prescribed scribe-mapping process on the SSC website.
The scribe’s One-Time Registration (OTR) number had to be mapped by 24 September 2026 at 11:00 PM. SSC will generate a Scribe Entry Pass for candidates who successfully complete the required mapping process.
SSC has also stated that scribe registrations completed before 5 November 2025 were disposed of. Such candidates may need to complete fresh registration, which requires Aadhaar authentication.
