Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced SSC JE Recruitment Drive 2024, which aims to fill 966 Junior Engineer (JE) posts in various engineering disciplines across Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Automobile.
Applications for JE posts are invited online from March 28, 2024, the last date of submission has been fixed as April 18, 2024. The application process is straightforward and accessible through the official SSC website, ssc.nic.in.

Age Limit for SSC JE 2024
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has set specific age limits for candidates applying for Junior Engineer (JE) posts in the 2024 recruitment cycle.
For Border Roads Organisation, Brahmaputra Board, Central Water Commission, Central Water and Power Research Station, DGQA-Naval, Farakka Barrage Project, Military Engineer Service (MES), and National Technical Research Organization (NTRO), the upper age limit is set at 30. At the age of one year. Candidates should not be born before 2 August 1994 and after 1 August 2006.
For Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the age limit is slightly higher, the maximum limit is 32 years for candidates applying for JE posts in Civil and Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. Candidates should be born before 2nd August 1992 and after 1st August 2006.

Age Relaxation for SSC JE 2024
SSC provides relaxation in upper age limit for specific categories of candidates, as per government norms:
- SC/ST: Relaxation of 5 years beyond the upper age limit.
- OBC: 3 years relaxation beyond upper age limit.
- Persons with Disabilities (PWD) [Unreserved/EWS]: Age relaxation of 10 years.
- PwD (OBC): Age relaxation of 13 years.
- PwD (SC/ST): Age relaxation of 15 years.
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): Age relaxation of 3 years after deducting military service rendered from the actual age.
SSC JE 2024 Selection Process
Candidates must obtain these minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I (Computer-Based Examination) to qualify for the next examination.
Candidates are shortlisted for Paper II on the basis of their normalized marks in Paper I classified as per their respective categories. If Paper II is conducted in multiple shifts, the marks will be normalized. In particular, there will be generalization for the electrical and mechanical branches as if these were separate shifts.
The final selection is based on the post/organization/office preferences of the candidates as well as performance in Paper-I and Paper-II. The allocation of posts is merit based keeping in mind the preferences expressed by the candidates. Once the post is allotted, the Commission will not make any changes for any reason.
